Wild Rose Water Spritz

‘Wild Roses from The Garden’

I made this last year with the leftover roses from my back garden once they’d passed their prime (deadheading roses also allows new buds to grow, so your roses will last even longer!)

I’ve been using rose water for my skin for a while but never thought to make it myself. When I finally got round to this recipe I realised how easy it was and also free!

Benefits of using rose water on your skin -

  • Soothes + hydrates
  • Reduces redness
  • Restores PH balance
  • Unclogs pores
  • Prevents infection
  • Lifts mood
  • Reduces headaches

I bottled this up in an amber glass spray bottle (helps if it’s darker to protect from damaging UV light) and use as a face spritz - this is so refreshing in the summer!

Important* Always collect your roses from a sustainable source i.e. your own garden. You can probably buy them in your local garden centre or ask around for people who may have a surplus stash (there are laws around picking wildflowers and so it’s best you do some research before deciding to do so!)

You will need:

  • Fresh roses (I used around 20 of them)
  • 1.5 litres distilled water (there are videos on YouTube you can follow which are super easy)

How to make:

1) Remove the petals from their stem and wash in lukewarm water to remove any residue and save the creepy crawlies!
2) Add petals to a saucepan and cover with enough distilled water to just cover the roses (not too much or will dilute your rosewater).
3) Bring to a low simmer and then cover for 20 mins or until they lose their colour.
4) Strain the liquid with a sieve into a jug.
5) Pour into a glass bottle and store.

Note* This can be diluted with more distilled water if needed and should keep for a couple months. You can also store in the fridge which makes this an extra refreshing spritz in the summer months!

I hope you enjoy this recipe as much as I do!

Much Love,

Flow x
